In case you haven't heard, they killed Spidey. Mhm. And they've got this new guy coming out, new costume and all. More detail on this here:
[link]From a designer point of view, I honestly like the new costume, easier to draw (hehe) and overall cool, still giving homage to the original. But on the other hand, I can't get this whole "kill a hero" thing Marvel and DC got going on. I mean death does bring glory but that goes for living and breating folk, right? Or does it? Can't they grow a pair and create a new hero with the
"trendy attributes" they so desperately need instead of handicapping a timeless brand? Sorry for the rant. I just don't think anyone can kill a hero and get away with it, simply cause it
literally can't be done. They're an idea, they simply cannot lose and always find their way across each hurdle. What are your thoughts?
Oh, and as for what's Mr. New doing here, he's bboying it, 'cause he better be cool like that or else.

On the subject of killing characters, I agree with you. I think killing characters for new ones to fill in sort of undermines the whole event. The character died but nothing really changes, there is still a new spidey to fight crime, where was the importance of his death except give him new threads and attitude change?
The way Marvel or DC keep killing characters is a bit comical, its really hard to be in on the drama when death can be walked off or the deceased's shoes can be filled by a lookalike. They basically removed the bite that death had by removing the one thing about it that scares us, there is no way back.
I just think its better to let characters who die stay dead and end a series on a high dramatic note rather than continue it with infite clone characters. Probably not good from a buisness standpoint though, because of the fans and such.
Terribly sorry for the long winded comment.
Glad we agree on this topic
